In its ongoing dedication to India and the expansion of its footprint on the subcontinent, Lufthansa German Airlines is delighted to declare the introduction of direct services between Hyderabad, the capital of the Indian state of Telangana, and Frankfurt, Germany.

Historically known as the City of Pearls for its significant role in the pearl and diamond trade, Hyderabad has evolved into India’s fourth-largest city, emerging as a hub for technology, aerospace, and the pharmaceutical industry. Boasting a substantial presence of major multinational corporations such as Google, Microsoft, Boeing, and Airbus, Hyderabad, as both a growing capital city and a prosperous state, has played a pivotal role in India’s economic success. Functioning as an investment hub and a center for innovation, Hyderabad seamlessly blends the charm of its rich history with the dynamism of 21st-century India.

Lufthansa, the leading European airline in India, currently offers non-stop flights from Germany to five destinations within the country. The newest addition to its global network is the Hyderabad-Frankfurt route. India stands out as the fastest-growing key market for Lufthansa on a global scale, experiencing capacity growth that exceeds pre-pandemic levels. Mr. George Ettiyil, Senior Director – South Asia, Lufthansa Group, notes this significant development.

“With the commencement of our new Hyderabad-Frankfurt service, we are now offering Indian passengers 64 weekly flights to our European hubs and onward connections to the extensive network on the European continent. The launch of Hyderabad has elevated our capacity to India by 14% compared to 2019, making it the fastest-growing major market for Lufthansa. With the recent additions of Bangalore-Munich and Hyderabad-Frankfurt services in the past three months, we acknowledge the growing relevance of South India and underscore the overall importance of India to the Lufthansa Group.”

With over 700 employees in India and a legacy spanning more than 60 years in the country, Lufthansa remains dedicated to playing an integral role in India’s ongoing growth narrative.
