Malaysia Airlines Raises Sustainability Bar with Corporate Carbon Programme

Malaysia Airlines pioneers the Malaysian aviation industry by launching its Corporate Carbon Programme, a unique initiative aimed at empowering corporate clients, especially business travelers, to comprehend and offset their travel-related carbon emissions.

Teaming up with climate tech company CHOOOSE, Malaysia Airlines expands its sustainability efforts, building on the success of its voluntary carbon offset programme introduced in June 2023.

Going beyond conventional offsetting methods, the Corporate Carbon Programme offers corporate clients the chance to support certified climate projects and, soon, Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) credits. Clients gain access to a dedicated portal for precise carbon footprint estimation, management, and active contribution to global emission reduction projects.

With detailed analytics, comprehensive project content, and the ability to track cumulative support for climate initiatives, the programme enables companies to address their Scope 3 emissions while fostering environmental responsibility.

Philip See, Group Chief Sustainability Officer at Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), said, “Extending our carbon programme to our corporate customers reaffirms MAG’s commitment to meeting net-zero targets and address carbon emissions; empowering corporate clients to take part in our sustainability journey in a meaningful way. We look forward to complementing the support of certified climate projects with the option to support SAF in the near future, recognising the crucial role it will play in decarbonising the aviation industry. By leveraging technology and partnerships, we hope to drive meaningful change in aviation guided by the MAG Sustainability Blueprint.”

Andreas Slettvoll, CEO at CHOOOSE, said, “It’s an honour to support Malaysia Airlines in growing their carbon programme to include not only individual travellers, but also corporate customers. If the aviation industry is to successfully decarbonise by 2050, it’s crucial for airlines to employ multi-faceted programmes—and it’s encouraging to see Malaysia Airlines put an emphasis on sustainability by expanding their programme. Additionally, we look forward to enabling the support of SAF through both the Malaysia Airlines Passenger Carbon Programme and Corporate Carbon Programme next.”

The Corporate Carbon Programme underscores Malaysia Airlines’ steadfast commitment to sustainability, in line with global efforts towards eco-friendly aviation practices. Malaysia Airlines urges corporations to participate in this collaborative endeavor to combat climate change by contacting their Corporate Relationship Manager or accessing the MHbiz PRO portal at mhbizpro.malaysiaairlines.com.
