Mandarin Oriental Achieves Prestigious GSTC-Committed Status, Leading the Way in Sustainable Tourism

Mandarin Oriental is excited to share that it has been granted GSTC-Committed status, affirming its dedication to promoting sustainable tourism. This accolade serves as a recognition of the Group’s successful adoption of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) Industry Criteria v3.0.

The GSTC Criteria, now integral to Mandarin Oriental’s operations, applies to its corporate offices and all its managed branded properties globally. Achieving GSTC-Committed status underscores Mandarin Oriental’s commitment to embedding the GSTC Criteria within its policies, plans, and daily operations, ensuring compliance with international sustainable tourism standards.

Laurent Kleitman, CEO of Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, remarked on the achievement: “This recognition reflects our commitment to sustainable practices. As a Group, we have developed a comprehensive plan to implement the GSTC Criteria, and we are proud to align ourselves with global standards for sustainable tourism.”

As part of its ongoing commitment to sustainability, the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group is set on applying the GSTC Criteria throughout its organization. This year, the Group aims to secure GSTC Certification for each of its hotels, aligning them with the top social and environmental practices in the tourism sector. In 2023, eleven Mandarin Oriental hotels achieved GSTC Certification. The Group employs the GSTC-Recognised Greenview Portal for its sustainability management, promoting transparency and accountability in its sustainability endeavors.
