Mary Haban joins Visit Tampa Bay as Vice President of global communications

Visit Tampa Bay is excited to announce the appointment of Mary Haban as the Vice President of Global Communications. In her new capacity, Mary will be responsible for overseeing various critical areas, including directing Visit Tampa Bay’s communications team, enhancing brand visibility, fostering community relations and executive communications, and amplifying both owned and earned media relations. These efforts aim to bolster the organization’s global communication initiatives.

Haban is widely respected as an expert in tourism and marketing, renowned for her knack for enhancing brands and consistently achieving outstanding results across diverse industries. Her impressive portfolio includes a history of securing impactful media coverage to bolster brand image and raise awareness. Prior to joining Visit Tampa Bay, Haban served as the Senior Manager of Public Relations and Communications at Visit Lauderdale, where she effectively showcased her tourism expertise on a worldwide scale, leveraging the destination’s unique attributes. She has also held the position of Senior Public Relations Manager at Visit St. Pete Clearwater.

Mary’s illustrious career spans several decades and encompasses roles such as Senior Manager of Copy and Content at Ashley Furniture Industries, Senior Communications Strategist at Allstate Insurance Company, and Contributing Writer for Luxe Beat Magazine and ConventionSouth Magazine. Additionally, she boasts a decade of experience as a broadcast writer and producer for NBC and Fox stations in Miami, Denver, and Tampa Bay.

Haban has enjoyed a distinguished career as a respected communications strategist, earning recognition as a global leader in her field. She is an accredited public relations professional and the recipient of both Emmy and Addy awards. In 2020, she was honored with the Life Achievement Award from the Tampa Bay Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America. She is a graduate of the University of Miami and has completed the Mass Media Institute at Stanford University, where she honed her skills in broadcasting.
