Minister Ersoy announces Antalya Airport expansion

Minister’s Announcement on Antalya Airport Expansion Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy announced that the Antalya Airport Expansion Project, with an investment exceeding 800 million euros, is set for completion this year.

Inauguration of Antalya Airport Mosque The opening ceremony of the Antalya Airport Mosque, situated within the airport premises, was attended by Minister Ersoy. He led the first Friday prayer of Ramadan in the mosque, accommodating 150 worshippers, inaugurated for prayers by Provincial Mufti Nazif Fethi Yalçınkaya.

Minister’s Statement Following the prayer, Minister Ersoy remarked that the inauguration coincided with the first Friday of Ramadan.

Significance of Mosques Highlighting the role of mosques in fostering brotherhood, Minister Ersoy emphasized their importance as places where individuals unite before their Lord. He underscored mosques as integral components of civilization, signifying vitality and unity.

Expansion Project Details Minister Ersoy detailed the comprehensive expansion and enhancement works initiated by the government, particularly through the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure. These efforts encompass the expansion of both domestic and international terminals, as well as enhancements to VIP, CIP, general aviation, cargo terminals, addition of new apron areas, and construction of a mosque.

Anticipated Completion Ersoy projected that the expansion project, with a budget exceeding 800 million euros, will swiftly conclude within the year.

Importance of the Mosque Emphasizing the significance of the mosque, Minister Ersoy noted the high volume of personnel and passengers at the airport, necessitating the urgent construction of a mosque with a capacity of 150 worshippers. He underscored the mosque’s role in fulfilling a critical need at the airport.

Accompanying Officials Minister Ersoy was joined by Antalya Governor Hulusi Şahin during the ceremony.
