Miss Universe Philippines got ‘Spirit of Carnival’ Award 2023

Michelle Dee, Miss Universe Philippines, during the 72nd annual MISS UNIVERSE competition, got the award – “Spirit of Carnival” for exemplifying the values of friendship, fun, multiplicity and inclusion of the company.

Christine Duffy, Carnival Cruise Line President, recently in a videotaped message, announced Ms. Dee as the award recipient for 2023 during the live finale organized in El Salvador and transmitted globally on Saturday, Nov. 18.

Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line, said being enthused by her two siblings suffering from autism, Michelle has made autism acceptance, education and inclusivity as her primary undertakings. At Carnival, they want everyone on their ships to feel the warmth of their welcome, and they were the first and only cruise line to get qualified as sensory inclusive. She added that they know their 13,000 Filipino crew members are going to be very happy by the selection of Michelle.

With two siblings who have autism, Dee grew up and has said that her siblings inspired her to work carefully with autism advocacy groups countrywide. Since 2019, Dee has been Autism Society Philippines’ Goodwill Ambassador.

From De La Salle University located in Manila, Dee graduated with a degree in psychology and had grabbed a certificate course in entrepreneurship in Harvard University via online.
