Central Line Services to Be Diverted Between CSMT and Vidyavihar During Maintenance Work

The Central Line will undergo a mega block on both Up and Down slow lines between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and Vidyavihar stations. The block will remain active from 10:55 am to 3:55 pm on August 23.

During this period, several Down slow line services departing from CSMT between 10:48 am and 3:45 pm will not operate on their regular route. Instead, these trains will be shifted to the Down fast line between CSMT and Vidyavihar to maintain movement through the affected section.

The diverted trains will continue to provide stoppages at key stations, including Byculla, Parel, Dadar, Matunga, Sion and Kurla. After reaching Vidyavihar, services will return to the Down slow line and continue their onward journey.

Similarly, Up slow line services originating from Ghatkopar between 10:19 am and 3:52 pm will be diverted onto the Up fast line between Vidyavihar and CSMT. These trains will halt at important stations such as Kurla, Sion, Matunga, Dadar, Parel and Byculla before returning to their normal route.

The temporary changes are expected to increase travel times for some passengers, although railway authorities are taking measures to minimise inconvenience by maintaining train movement through alternative tracks.

Harbour Line Operations Between Kurla and Vashi to Remain Suspended During Block Hours

The Harbour Line will experience a separate mega block affecting services between Kurla and Vashi on both Up and Down lines. The maintenance work will be carried out from 11:10 am to 4:10 pm.

During the block period, Harbour Line services connecting CSMT with Vashi, Belapur and Panvel will remain suspended in both directions.

Down Harbour Line trains heading towards Vashi, Belapur and Panvel that are scheduled to depart from CSMT between 10:34 am and 3:36 pm will be affected.

Similarly, Up Harbour Line services travelling towards CSMT from Panvel, Belapur and Vashi between 10:17 am and 3:47 pm will also remain unavailable during the maintenance window.

To reduce passenger difficulties, special train services will operate on selected routes. Additional services will run between CSMT and Kurla in both directions, along with shuttle operations between Panvel and Vashi.

Alternative Travel Route Available for Harbour Line Passengers

Passengers affected by the Harbour Line suspension will be allowed to use an alternative route through the Thane–Vashi/Nerul corridor during the mega block period.

The alternative travel facility will remain available between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm on August 23. This option will help commuters travelling between Navi Mumbai and Mumbai avoid major disruptions caused by the temporary suspension of direct Harbour Line services.

Travellers using this route should expect possible crowding due to increased passenger movement during the block hours. Planning additional travel time will help commuters manage delays more effectively.

No Disruption Expected on Transharbour, Uran and Western Lines

While the Central and Harbour lines will experience changes, railway authorities have confirmed that no mega block will be conducted on the Transharbour Line or Uran Line on August 23.

The Western Line will also continue normal operations without any scheduled block-related disruption.

Passengers travelling on these routes are expected to experience regular train services, although normal weekend passenger movement conditions may apply.
