More than 7,000 tourists arrived in Sri Lanka so far this month, thereby boosting the country’s tourism industry which was hit badly due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Official figures said that 7,096 tourists came to Sri Lanka from October 1 to 13. The country’s Tourism Minister PrasannaRanatunga said that if the present trend persists, October isexpected to record the highest monthly arrivals for 2021.
The Tourism Ministry said that so far this year, September witnessed the highest tourist arrivals with 13,547 visitors.
With added arrivals up to October 13, 45,413 tourists visited the country since the re-opening of borders on January 21.Minister Ranatunga said that with the relaxing of travel restrictions, there is a growing interest from global travelers to visit Sri Lanka.
