Morocco to expand its national carrier

From the current 50 aircrafts, RAM or Royal Air Maroc will quadruple its fleet to 200 in the coming 15 years, as per a recent press release from the office of the head of government, Aziz Akhannouch.


On Tuesday, Mr. Akhannouch and Hamid Addou, who is the CEO of RAM, signed a contract related to investment program in Rabat to meet the plan related to tourism development and by 2037 is set to draw 65 million visitors. This represents six times as many visitors as these days.


The State’s stake to this end, in RAM will be increased as part of the support of the government for the investment project of the company. The accomplishment of its development plan, maintaining its digitizationa and competitiveness and development of the quality of its services, says the press release.


The Head of Government’s office when contacted would not say how much the amount of the investment plan was used. The amount was not disclosed either.

The national carrier was bailed out by the government in the wake of covid, is also planning to open new international destinations.
