The surge in the popularity of air travel is evident in the rising number of aircraft movements at Munich Airport. In the upcoming 2024 summer flight schedule, commencing on March 31, there will be a noteworthy spike in services to Asia. Currently, nine airlines have plans to operate 107 weekly flights to 14 destinations in ten countries across East and South Asia. This marks a substantial increase from the pre-pandemic 2019 summer schedule, where five airlines conducted 101 flights to ten destinations in seven countries.

The destinations now included in the flights from Munich to East and South Asia encompass Tokyo, Osaka, Beijing, Shanghai, Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi, Seoul, Tashkent, Dushanbe, Male, Taipei, Bangkok, and Singapore. Lufthansa, Air China, All Nippon Airways, BeOnd, EVA Airways, Singapore Airlines, Somon Air, Thai Airways, and Uzbekistan Airways are the carriers serving these destinations.

Asia boasts a plethora of tourist attractions, ranging from vibrant megacities with bank towers and skyscrapers to magnificent temples and idyllic beaches. Additionally, Asian countries hold significant positions in the global economy, making them frequent destinations for business travelers. Many Bavarian companies also maintain business ties with counterparts in the region and capitalize on the available flights from Munich.

To accommodate the growing demand for air travel, Lufthansa has announced plans to intermittently deploy the Airbus A380, the world’s largest passenger aircraft, on the route to Delhi starting April 1, 2024. Furthermore, the service to Beijing will transition from three weekly flights to a daily connection in April, while Osaka in Japan will see an increase from five times a week to daily flights from May. All Nippon Airways is set to augment its Munich service from four to seven weekly flights beginning July 2.
