MyCEB Highlights Malaysia’s Business Events at IBTM World 2023

The Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) and 15 industry partners showcased the nation’s thriving business events industry at the 13th consecutive IBTM World in Barcelona, held from 28th to 30th November at Fira Barcelona Gran Via.

MyCEB’s CEO, Mr. Azman Haji Tambi Chik, highlighted the mission: “To position Malaysia as the preferred business events destination in Asia, emphasizing our capabilities and world-class offerings. This participation also aims to provide invaluable insights to international buyers and create networking opportunities for fruitful collaborations and new business contracts.”

The strategic participation yielded positive outcomes, fostering new partnerships and opening doors to new markets. Mr. Azman emphasized the importance of IBTM World as a strategic platform, especially for reaching the European and international markets.

MyCEB, established in 2011, has a remarkable track record, supporting 2,857 business events, attracting 2.3 million delegates, and contributing RM17.4 billion in estimated economic impact. In 2023 alone, the bureau secured 305 events from 2023 to 2030, translating to RM4.8 billion in economic impact.

Key successful bid wins include the International Conference on Emergency Medicine (ICEM) 2027, ENLIT ASIA 2024, and Federation of Asian and Oceanic Physiological Societies 2027, collectively generating RM57.26 million or 11.23 million Euros in estimated economic impact.

Embodying the traditional craft of “Tekat,” symbolizing gold thread embroidery on a velvet-type base cloth, MyCEB launched the MyTripleE program under the Meet in Malaysia campaign. MyTripleE, comprising Excel, Elevate, and Enliven initiatives, aims to redefine the future of business events by providing financial and non-financial support to applicants.

Mr. Azman welcomes inquiries and engagements, stating, “We look forward to better understanding and improving our offerings in collaboration with stakeholders.”
