In 2023, the Nassau Cruise Port team concluded the year with an unprecedented achievement, hosting a staggering 4,490,802 passengers across 1,210 vessels. This remarkable milestone signifies a 14% surge from the previous record established in 2019, underscoring the remarkable expansion of the port and its pivotal contribution to the flourishing Bahamian tourism sector.

Mike Maura, Jr., CEO of Nassau Cruise Port Ltd., expressed gratitude to essential contributors for their support and eagerly anticipated continued growth.

“A huge thank you to the cruise industry and its passengers, the travel agents championing The Bahamas, our government partners, the Nassau Cruise Port businesses, the entire community here in New Providence, and of course, our incredible team at Nassau Cruise Port. Each of you make a difference every day, owning your share of this success.  And remember, the newly revitalized Nassau waterfront offers unique finds, fantastic entertainment, and delicious food and drinks, with even more on the horizon for 2024.”

In 2023, Nassau Cruise Port achieved a series of remarkable milestones. In March, the team broke its own record for daily passenger arrivals, welcoming 28,554 visitors. Not content with this achievement, they surpassed it once more on December 27th, hosting an impressive 29,316 passengers in a single day. This momentum carried throughout the year, leading to the surpassing of the annual passenger target of 4.2 million, ultimately reaching a new high of 4,490,802 visitors.

This exceptional performance significantly contributed to The Bahamas’ overall tourism success, with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, I. Chester Cooper, announcing a historic nine million plus visitor arrivals for the country in the same year. This figure exceeded projections by one million and represented a 12.5% increase over initial forecasts by tourism executives. Minister Cooper highlighted that this surge in arrivals generated over $6 billion in visitor spending, directly boosting the Bahamian economy.

Bolstered by these achievements, the port team has set ambitious goals for 2024, aiming to welcome an astonishing 5.6 million passengers. With a commitment to delivering an authentic Bahamian experience to all visitors, Nassau Cruise Port is poised to sustain its impressive growth trajectory, solidifying its status as the premier cruise travel destination in the region.
