Efforts by Network Rail to reopen the railway line through Baildon are advancing after a landslip in early February led to its closure.

Recently shared images depict the on-site teams utilizing advanced machinery as they continue to excavate over 2,500 tonnes of soil adjacent to the track.

Round-the-clock engineering efforts have been successful in reducing land pressure and safeguarding the railway, with over 1,800 tonnes of soil already removed using specialized road-rail vehicles and diggers.

The restoration work is on track, aiming for the resumption of train services through the area by mid-March.

While the train services are temporarily unavailable, rail replacement services remain operational to ensure passenger connectivity. Travelers are advised to verify their trip details through National Rail Enquiries or Northern before setting out.

Richard Owens, Infrastructure Director for Network Rail’s North & East route, said: “Our teams are making progress in stabilising the land to allow for the railway line to reopen through Baildon from next month.

“We have had engineers on site 24 hours a day since the incident started and we continue to have teams working around the clock to make the area safe for trains to run once again.

“Network Rail is continuing to support local residents who have been affected by the landslip, and we want to thank all residents and passengers for their continued patience, understanding, and support while we carry out this vital work.”
