In response to a spike in demand, Alliance Air, the only airline based in Lakshadweep, has increased the number of flights it offers to the area. Due to the growing number of passengers wishing to visit this picturesque destination, Alliance Air, the only Indian airline operating in Lakshadweep, has started additional flights on the Kochi-Agatti-Kochi route.

These extra flights will run twice a week, on Sundays and Wednesdays, according to a senior Alliance Air official. Alliance Air is currently the only airline operating flights to Lakshadweep, linking Agatti Island, home of the main airport in the area, and Kochi, the capital of Kerala.

The airline operates 70-seater aircraft to the island on a daily basis. An official statement states that, due to high demand, all flight tickets to Lakshadweep have been sold out until March. Due to the increase in inquiries from social media and phone conversations brought on by this surge in demand, Alliance Air has had to increase the number of flights. Additionally, the airline has stated that, should the need arise, it is willing to further increase the frequency of these flights.

In a recent development, SpiceJet’s CEO, Ajay Singh, declared in an annual general meeting that SpiceJet is the exclusive provider of Lakshadweep under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS).

SpiceJet intends to begin operating its own flights to Lakshadweep shortly as a result. Travel portals are reporting an unprecedented volume of inquiries for flights to Lakshadweep as a result of this news, indicating a significant level of interest in visiting the area.

Prime Minister Modi shared charming photos from his January 22 visit to Lakshadweep, the smallest Union Territory in India. The images quickly went viral. The prime minister increased the attractiveness of this cluster of picturesque islands as a tourist destination by emphasizing the potential for beach tourism during his visit.

Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Lakshadweep was disparaged in a social media post by Mariyam Shiuna, the deputy minister of youth empowerment in the Maldives. The post, which was later removed, briefly highlighted Lakshadweep’s importance in relation to international relations and regional tourism.
