New Orleans, US Hospitality Scene Transformed As Ritz Carlton And Courtyard Debut Bold Upgrades Backed By Gencom’s Global Expansion

New Orleans, US sees major hotel upgrades as Ritz-Carlton and Courtyard unveil renovations backed by Gencom’s global hospitality expansion strategy.

The Ritz-Carlton on Canal Street now boasts 528 elegantly appointed rooms and suites, over 48,000 square feet of flexible event space, a state-of-the-art fitness center, an indoor pool, and the city’s largest spa, spanning 25,000 square feet, according to the company’s announcement. Nearby, the 230-room Courtyard hotel places guests steps from iconic New Orleans landmarks like Bourbon Street, the Caesars Superdome, and the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.

The Ritz-Carlton recently underwent extensive upgrades, including a $15 million transformation of its exclusive Maison Orleans Club Level, alongside enhancements to public areas and guestrooms. The adjacent Courtyard property also received a full modernization of both its accommodations and communal spaces to elevate the guest experience.

Gencom, the real estate investment and development firm behind these properties, was founded over four decades ago. Today, it manages a portfolio nearing $8 billion in assets, including ownership of 23 hotels with a combined total of over 7,000 rooms around the globe. Through its affiliate, Pyramid Global Hospitality, Gencom oversees operations at 240 properties in more than 40 locations, collectively managing 50,000 rooms worldwide.

The company was founded in 1987 by Karim Alibhai, who launched his hospitality career working at his family-owned Best Western in Houston while completing college. Alibhai, who was born in Kenya to a family of Indian heritage, has grown Gencom into a global hospitality powerhouse known for its strategic investments and luxury developments.
