Tomorrow, Scandic celebrates the inauguration of its debut property in Nürnberg, positioned within Bavaria’s second most expansive urban region. This launch signifies a pivotal moment in Scandic’s German market growth strategy. Following its acquisition from Pandox, this 311-room facility, now revamped and operating under the Scandic brand, offers event capabilities for as many as 800 attendees. Starting March 1, 2024, Scandic will manage the Scandic Nürnberg Central under a long-term, revenue-based lease agreement.

Nestled in the city’s core, a brief stroll from both the historic quarter and the main train station, the Scandic Nürnberg Central caters to both leisure and business visitors. The hotel boasts 311 accommodations, including rooms and suites, alongside an indoor pool, saunas, and adaptable spaces for meetings and events. It also features a dining concept centered on sustainability, with the Public Kitchen & Bar offering innovative, environmentally conscious cuisine. Fitness enthusiasts can enjoy the gym and yoga amenities, complemented by sweeping 180-degree city vistas from the top level.

Michel Schutzbach, the Country Managing Director for Germany & Poland at Scandic Hotels, expressed enthusiasm about reinforcing Scandic’s presence in the European hospitality sector through this expansion. The opening in Nürnberg is a step towards embedding the Scandinavian brand within Germany, aiming to attract a broad spectrum of guests.

Located merely 20 minutes from the airport, Scandic Nürnberg Central is an exemplary choice for a wide variety of conferences and events. It provides rooms perfect for smaller workshops and seminars, alongside a grand ballroom designed for larger gatherings, accommodating up to 800 guests. This versatility is enhanced by movable walls that can adapt the space for different event types, including vehicle launches and exhibitions.

Heiko Kain, an experienced General Manager who also led the successful launch of Scandic Frankfurt Hafenpark, will oversee the hotel’s operations. Kain, along with his dedicated team, aspires to solidify Scandic’s footprint in this new locale, aiming to become a preferred choice for visitors.

The hotel underwent significant renovations in 2023, courtesy of Pandox, focusing on technical enhancements and sustainability improvements. True to Scandic’s ethos, sustainability remains at the forefront of operations at Scandic Nürnberg Central, with plans to achieve the Nordic Swan Ecolabel certification. This includes using eco-certified products, minimizing water use, offering a climate-conscious menu, and reducing food waste among its sustainability initiatives.

After the inauguration, Scandic will manage a portfolio of seven hotels across Germany, encompassing a total of 2,461 guest rooms.
