New York City is preparing for another bout of snowfall expected to hit this weekend, following closely on the heels of a recent winter storm that deposited around 4 inches of snow. The National Weather Service has forecasted a swift-moving low-pressure system to begin affecting the city from around midnight on Friday, continuing into Saturday morning.

The forthcoming snowfall is predicted to occasionally be intense, with snowfall rates possibly reaching up to 1 inch per hour during the early hours from 2 a.m. to 8 a.m. The National Weather Service has estimated that the city could accumulate an additional 2 to 4 inches of snow before the storm dissipates by Saturday noon.

Fox News’ meteorologist, Samantha Thomas, has indicated that this week might witness several snow-related events, noting a slight increase in snowfall predictions compared to the storm on Tuesday, which led to school closures.

The path of the upcoming storm on Friday is expected to veer further south compared to Tuesday’s, thereby affecting other major cities, including Philadelphia, Washington, DC, and Baltimore, with snow accumulations.

Furthermore, the National Weather Service has warned of potential travel hazards due to the snow, highlighting concerns over reduced visibility and slippery road conditions.

The anticipation of this snow event is poised to have notable implications for tourism in New York City and the broader region affected. The forecast of additional snowfall and the associated travel warnings could deter tourists planning to visit the city this weekend, impacting local businesses and attractions that rely on weekend footfall. Moreover, the snow could disrupt transportation, making it challenging for visitors to navigate the city and access popular tourist sites.

Conversely, the snowy landscape might attract visitors interested in experiencing the winter scenery of New York City, potentially offsetting some of the negative impacts on tourism. However, the overall effect on tourism will depend on the storm’s severity and the city’s response to managing the snow and ensuring safe travel conditions for residents and visitors alike.
