New Leadership Announcement: NYC Tourism + Conventions Welcomes Eight New Board Members and Three Officers”

Today, Charles Flateman, Chair of the New York City Tourism + Conventions Board and Executive Vice President of The Shubert Organization, unveiled the election results of the organization’s Board of Directors. Held at the Sheraton Times Square on February 27, 2024, the meeting saw the addition of eight new board members and the appointment of three officers to key positions.

The newly elected board members, slated for a two-year term, include:

– Adrian Benepe, President, Brooklyn Botanic Garden
– Blanca Espinosa, Founder & CEO, White Rose Experiences
– Chris Wanlass, Vice President & General Manager, Nordstrom NYC
– Jessica Baker Vodoor, President & CEO, Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Garden
– KP Trueblood, President & COO, Brooklyn Museum
– Leah Johnson, EVP & Chief Communications, Marketing & Advocacy Officer, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts
– Liz Neumark, Founder, Great Performances
Sean M. Decatur, currently holding the position of President at the American Museum of Natural History.

Additionally, new officers appointed for a two-year term are:

– Vice Chairs: John Calvelli, Executive Vice President & Founder, Wildlife Conservation Society & Melba Wilson, Founder of Melba’s
– Treasurer: Marlene Poynder, Managing Director, The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel
-Secretary Daniel Nadeau, who serves as the Area General Manager at the New York Marriott Marquis, was also appointed.

These distinguished individuals join an esteemed cadre of local business leaders on the NYC Tourism Board of Directors. With their wealth of experience, integrity, and vision, they contribute to advancing the organization’s mission of bolstering New York City’s economy through tourism. The announcement comes amid New York City’s ongoing economic recovery, with 61.8 million travelers arriving in 2023, representing 93% of the city’s record 2019 visitation levels. Last year, tourism contributed $74 billion in economic impact across the five boroughs, and projections estimate 64 million travelers by the end of 2024.
