This week, the independent labor union NJASAP, representing over 3,200 pilots for NetJets, received a letter from NetJets‘ legal counsel. The letter made various allegations, including claims that the Union endorsed or promoted a work slowdown to detrimentally affect the company’s operations. NetJets Aviation Inc., a subsidiary of Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway, stands as a leading provider of luxurious private air transportation.

NetJets accused pilots of engaging in an unlawful slowdown, specifically mentioning actions such as “spiking” fatigue rates, increasing the reporting of maintenance issues on aircraft, and refusing to voluntarily extend duty days. NJASAP vehemently denies these allegations.

In response, NetJets failed to provide any evidence supporting their claims, such as demonstrating instances where pilots falsely reported fatigue, documented non-existent maintenance issues, or refused to work extra days solely to disrupt the company’s operations rather than for personal reasons.

Additionally, NetJets’ attorneys demanded the Union take disciplinary measures, including imposing financial penalties, against pilots involved in such behavior. However, the company failed to identify any specific pilot engaging in the alleged conduct.

NJASAP President Capt. Pedro Leroux refuted the claim that the Union was orchestrating or encouraging a slowdown, emphasizing that a communication had been issued to members instructing them to cease any individual efforts in that direction. Leroux characterized NetJets’ letter and threats as attempts to suppress NJASAP’s communication with its members regarding crucial matters affecting flight crews, owners, and customer safety. He further asserted that NJASAP would robustly defend itself against the allegations and would not be intimidated in its commitment to effectively represent the Membership’s interests.
