Turkish Airlines has completed its largest single-aisle aircraft order from Boeing, finalizing an agreement that has been in the works since 2025. Turkish will order up to 150 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. This order will facilitate Turkish’s expansion of its fleet and improve its short-haul and medium-haul routes, and global connectivity.

The Boeing 737 MAX deal was completed in the presence of His Excellency Recep Tayyip ErdoÄŸan, President of the Republic of Türkiye.

The agreement includes a firm order for 100 Boeing 737-8 aircraft, along with options for 50 additional Boeing 737 MAX jets. It also provides substitution rights for the Boeing 737-10, the largest model in the 737 MAX family, giving Turkish Airlines greater flexibility to match aircraft capacity with rising passenger demand across its expanding global network.

Commenting on the agreement, Turkish Airlines Chairman of the Board and the Executive Committee Prof Murat Åžeker stated: “This agreement marks another significant step in the continued expansion of our fleet. The new Boeing 737 MAX aircraft will bring greater efficiency and flexibility to our operations, supporting the extensive network we serve from our hub in Istanbul. We are pleased to build on our longstanding cooperation with Boeing through an agreement that also supports Türkiye’s aviation ecosystem.”

President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes Stephanie Pope stated: “This order reflects the trust and shared vision that have defined our long-standing partnership with Turkish Airlines. We’re proud to continue our support of Türkiye’s aviation ecosystem and Turkish Airlines as it grows its Istanbul-based network, connecting more people and destinations worldwide.”

The new aircraft will enhance Turkish Airlines’ short- and medium-haul operations, especially across high-demand domestic and international routes. With its extended range, flexible payload capabilities, and approximately 20% improvements in fuel efficiency and emissions reduction compared with previous-generation aircraft, the Boeing 737-8 will help the flag carrier meet evolving operational needs while supporting continued fleet and network expansion.

Turkish Airlines, including its subsidiary AJet, currently operates a Boeing fleet of more than 200 aircraft, including the 737 MAX, 737 Next Generation, 787 Dreamliner, 777, and 777 Freighter models. The latest agreement further deepens the long-standing partnership between Turkish Airlines and Boeing, following the airline’s major order for 75 Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft in 2025.

Alongside the aircraft agreement, Turkish Airlines and Boeing have also signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) focused on Industrial Participation. The framework establishes long-term cooperation built around three main areas: skill development, value creation, and business opportunities.

Through this partnership, both companies aim to strengthen aviation capabilities, encourage technology and knowledge transfer, develop specialised workforce skills, advance sustainability initiatives, and create new industrial collaboration opportunities.

Combined with the industrial participation framework, the agreement highlights Boeing’s continued commitment to supporting Türkiye’s aviation ecosystem while expanding cooperation beyond aircraft deliveries and fleet growth.
