The steady rise in Vietnam Airlines, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Northeast Asia travel, and Vietnam international flights has continued to reshape regional aviation in 2026. In response to growing passenger demand across tourism, business, family visits and trade, a major expansion of flight services has been introduced by Vietnam Airlines on several of its busiest Northeast Asian routes. The enhanced schedule has been designed to strengthen links between Vietnam and key regional markets while providing travellers with greater flexibility, increased seat availability and more convenient departure options.
As travel demand between Vietnam and Northeast Asia continues to accelerate, the latest network expansion has reflected the airline’s broader commitment to supporting regional economic cooperation and tourism development. Additional frequencies from Hanoi and Da Nang have been introduced across routes serving Japan, South Korea and Taiwan, ensuring that passengers are offered more choices throughout the year. The expansion has also been complemented by promotional fares and additional benefits for Lotusmiles members, reinforcing Vietnam Airlines’ strategy of encouraging international travel while strengthening its competitive position across Asia.
Additional Flights Introduced from Hanoi
A significant increase in flight capacity has been announced for passengers travelling from Hanoi to several important destinations in Northeast Asia. The expanded schedule has been developed in response to sustained demand generated by leisure travellers, corporate passengers, visiting friends and relatives, and growing commercial activity between Vietnam and neighbouring economies.
On the Hanoi–Taipei route, weekly services have been increased from seven flights to eleven. The additional frequencies have been introduced to provide passengers with greater flexibility while accommodating rising demand for travel between Vietnam and Taiwan. The expanded schedule is expected to improve convenience for both outbound and inbound travellers by offering a wider selection of departure times throughout the week.

The Hanoi–Osaka route has also been selected for substantial expansion. Between October 26 and November 30, 2026, the service will operate eleven weekly flights instead of the existing seven. From December 1, 2026, another increase will be implemented, taking the route to fourteen weekly flights. This adjustment will effectively establish two daily services between Hanoi and Osaka, significantly enhancing travel options for passengers travelling between the two cities.
These additional frequencies have been introduced to support consistently rising demand while improving operational flexibility during one of the airline’s busiest international travel periods.
Da Nang Strengthens Its Northeast Asia Network
Further investment has also been directed towards Da Nang, where Vietnam Airlines has expanded services across several important Northeast Asian destinations.
The Da Nang–Seoul (Incheon) route has experienced one of the largest capacity increases. Beginning on July 1, the route has been upgraded to fourteen weekly flights, providing passengers with twice-daily connectivity between central Vietnam and South Korea’s capital region. The increased schedule has been designed to accommodate growing demand from tourists, business travellers and family visitors travelling between both countries.
Additional improvements have also been introduced on Japanese routes operating from Da Nang. Services to Tokyo (Narita) have been expanded to eleven weekly flights, while the Da Nang–Osaka (Kansai) service has increased to five weekly flights. These adjustments have strengthened Da Nang’s position as an increasingly important international gateway while providing greater accessibility to Japan’s major metropolitan areas.
The expanded network has demonstrated Vietnam Airlines’ intention to support regional tourism growth while improving connectivity between central Vietnam and Northeast Asia’s largest aviation markets.
Promotional Airfares Introduced for Travellers
Alongside the network expansion, promotional round-trip fares have been introduced to encourage additional international travel during 2026.
Passengers travelling on the Hanoi–Taipei route have been offered round-trip fares starting from VND 7,724,000, inclusive of taxes and fees. Meanwhile, promotional fares on the Hanoi–Osaka route have been made available from VND 14,660,000, also including applicable taxes and charges.
The promotional campaign remains valid for tickets issued by July 31, 2026. Travel on the Hanoi–Taipei service must be completed by July 31, 2026, while passengers travelling between Hanoi and Osaka may utilise the promotional fares for journeys completed through December 31, 2026.
In addition to discounted fares, Lotusmiles members have been offered bonus mileage rewards based on their respective booking classes. These additional loyalty benefits have been introduced to reward frequent travellers while encouraging continued use of Vietnam Airlines’ expanding international network.
Northeast Asia Continues to Drive International Growth
Northeast Asia has continued to represent one of Vietnam Airlines’ strongest international markets, with demand remaining consistently high across multiple passenger segments.
Travel demand has been supported not only by leisure tourism but also by expanding business activity, foreign investment, educational exchanges and visiting friends and relatives travel. The combination of these diverse travel purposes has contributed to sustained year-round passenger volumes across the region.
As economic integration between Vietnam and Northeast Asia continues to deepen, greater mobility has been created for both individuals and businesses. This broader economic relationship has increased the need for reliable international air services capable of supporting frequent travel between major commercial centres.
Vietnam Airlines has responded by gradually increasing flight frequencies while maintaining strong connectivity across its regional network.
South Korea Remains One of Vietnam’s Largest Tourism Markets
Official statistics released by Vietnam’s Ministry of Finance have highlighted the importance of South Korea within Vietnam’s international tourism sector.
During the first six months of 2026, South Korea ranked as Vietnam’s second-largest international source market. More than 2.16 million visitor arrivals were recorded during the period, underlining the strength of tourism demand between both countries.
The substantial volume of South Korean visitors has continued to support Vietnam’s hospitality sector, local businesses and tourism economy while encouraging additional airline investment in bilateral air services.
The increased frequency on the Da Nang–Seoul (Incheon) route has therefore been aligned with existing market demand while providing greater travel flexibility for both leisure and business passengers.
Japan and Taiwan Continue Supporting Two-Way Passenger Growth
Strong passenger demand has also continued to be generated by Japan and Taiwan, both of which remain key international aviation markets for Vietnam Airlines.
Stable two-way passenger traffic has reflected increasingly close economic relationships, expanding tourism exchanges and stronger people-to-people connections between Vietnam and these destinations. Business partnerships, educational exchanges, family visits and leisure travel have all contributed to maintaining consistent passenger flows throughout the year.
The expansion of services to Osaka, Tokyo and Taipei has therefore been implemented to accommodate growing travel demand while ensuring sufficient capacity during periods of higher passenger activity.
By strengthening these important routes, Vietnam Airlines has reinforced its role as one of the region’s leading international carriers connecting Vietnam with Northeast Asia.
International Network Expansion Continues Beyond Northeast Asia
The latest frequency increases have formed part of Vietnam Airlines’ wider international expansion strategy for 2026.
During the year, several new direct international services have already been introduced, extending the airline’s global network beyond Northeast Asia. New routes to Amsterdam in the Netherlands, Phuket in Thailand and Colombo in Sri Lanka have strengthened Vietnam’s connectivity with Europe and other major Asian destinations.
These route launches have reflected the airline’s long-term objective of expanding Vietnam’s international aviation footprint while supporting the country’s broader tourism and economic ambitions.
Greater international connectivity has also been expected to create additional opportunities for trade, investment and cultural exchange by providing more direct travel options for global passengers.
Expanded Connectivity Supports Tourism and Economic Cooperation
The continued expansion of Vietnam Airlines’ international network has been guided by rising passenger demand and evolving regional travel patterns.
By increasing flight frequencies to Japan, South Korea and Taiwan while simultaneously expanding services to Europe and South Asia, stronger international connectivity has been established for travellers departing from Vietnam. These developments have supported not only tourism but also business collaboration, international investment and family reunification across multiple markets.
As passenger demand continues to increase throughout 2026, Vietnam Airlines has positioned itself to accommodate future growth through expanded capacity, improved scheduling flexibility and enhanced international route coverage. The latest network improvements have reinforced the airline’s commitment to supporting Vietnam’s tourism industry while contributing to stronger economic cooperation with key international partners across Northeast Asia and beyond.
