Oman to showcase its culture and tradition at ITB Berlin 2024

ITB Berlin 2024, is set to commence with a grand opening ceremony on 4 March, hosted by Oman, this year’s Official Host Country. Under the evocative slogan “Beauty Has An Address,” this B2B travel trade event will showcase Oman’s rich cultural tapestry, blending traditional and modern elements in a vibrant celebration at the CityCube Berlin.

This B2B travel trade event, beginning at 6 p.m., will feature classical and folk music performances, promising an unforgettable experience for the 3,000 guests, including distinguished political figures and tourism industry leaders.

H.E. Salim bin Mohammed Al Mahrouqi, Oman’s Minister of Heritage and Tourism, will lead the presentation, offering attendees a glimpse into Oman’s diverse landscapes, heritage, and advancements. Political dignitaries such as Kai Wegner, Governing Mayor of Berlin, and Dieter Janecek, Federal Government’s Coordinator for Maritime Economy and Tourism, will extend their welcomes, alongside key travel industry representatives like Julia Simpson of the WTTC and Zurab Pololikashvili of UN Tourism, with Dr. Mario Tobias of Messe Berlin representing ITB Berlin.

The event’s programme is segmented into three captivating parts, each underscoring different aspects of Omani culture and its vision for the future. The initial segment will explore Oman’s natural beauty and cultural heritage, followed by a focus on the nation’s progress, including modernization efforts while preserving its cultural identity, religion, education, human rights, and arts. The finale, titled “Vision 2040,” aims to highlight Oman’s aspirations towards sustainable tourism development and its ambition to play a significant role globally.

A highlight of the evening will be performances by Omani singers and folk groups, alongside the Royal Oman Symphony Orchestra, marking its first visit to Germany in 17 years. This unique ensemble, comprising solely Omani musicians, reflects the country’s commitment to cultural preservation and international harmony.

The opening ceremony of ITB Berlin 2024 will culminate in a reception where guests can indulge in Omani culinary specialties, offering a taste of the Sultanate’s hospitality. This grand opening sets the stage for ITB Berlin 2024, promising a deep dive into the world of travel and tourism, with Oman at the heart of the celebration.
