Rejuvenating cool yet gleaming mornings, cloudy afternoons with occasional showers and drizzles, breezy evenings coupled with lush looks and bloom of flowers in the  hills, are the harbingers of the “Second autumn season of Ooty”, that runs between mid-September and early-November, increasing hopes for  vibrant tourism in the days to come.

After heavy rains in August that stretched up to early September this year, the Nilgiris are now a picture of elegance and splendor to woo autumn tourists in large numbers.

At the Government Botanical Garden (GBG), a stellar tourist attraction, the arrangement of flowers in 15,000 pots has just started, which is heralding the autumn season to peak up.

Shiva Subramanian Samraj, the joint director of Horticulture in Ooty, said that flowers in 85 varieties that include daliah, salvia, inca marigold, French marigold, begonia, daisy, calendula, dianthus, chrysanthemum, aster, primula, balsam, ageratum, renunculus, cyclamen, anthurium, tuberous begonia and geranium are being grown in 15,000 pots, making it a grand autumn attraction this year.

Besides, flowers in lakhs which are being grown across various flower-beds in the GBG are also in the early stages of bloom now. The GBG is expected to be in full autumn bloom from next weekend. Also, other gardens in the hills like the Sim’s Park in Coonoor, Government Rose Garden in Ooty are ready with autumn bloom for providing visual treat to the tourists.
