Pattaya will build Canopy walkway before the Songkran festival

The progress on the construction of the canopy walkway at the Bali Hai Pier ferry terminal in Pattaya is moving forward at a steady pace, with city officials confirming its anticipated completion before the Songkran Festival in mid-April. This initiative aims to provide visitors with shade and protection from rain over the 310-meter length of the walkway.

Pattaya City has recognized the need for improvements at Bali Hai Pier due to years of extensive usage that have left the pier incapable of accommodating vehicular traffic. Consequently, the city has tasked contractors with undertaking the required repairs and enhancements to the pier in addition to the canopy walkway construction.

The project faced delays, attributed mainly to challenges encountered during the construction process. These included the need for substructure repairs beneath the pier and operational hurdles during periods of high and low tide. Despite these obstacles, the commitment remains to have the canopy walkway ready in time for the eagerly awaited Songkran Festival.

Designed to reflect a wave motif, the canopy walkway’s aesthetic is intentionally aligned with the maritime setting of Pattaya. The structure is supported by a galvanized steel framework, a choice made to keep costs in check while maximizing budget efficiency. Crucially, the design involves anchoring the canopy to the existing columns of the pier to avoid imposing extra burden on the bridge’s structure.

This development is poised to significantly enhance the experience of visitors to Bali Hai Pier, offering them comfort and convenience while aligning with the area’s thematic elements.
