Peter Carter appointed as an E.V.P, External Affair by Delta Airlines

Peter Carter has been elevated to the post of E.V.P External Affairs, expanding his role, leading Delta’s legal, regulatory and government affairs and having functions to oversee the airline’s international , innovation and sustainability strategy. Carter would remain on the Delta leadership Committee.

As stated by Delta CEO Ed Bastian, Peter had long served as a well – trusted and knowledgeable adviser to them as well as the entire Delta Leadership team, and he added that Peter also embodied Delta’s culture of service to their people and their communities.

He also, however, complimented him by saying that he was thrilled that he had agreed to take on this expanded role as they continue to rebound from the global pandemic and look ahead to a vibrant, yet complex future, including navigating a dynamic U.S and geopolitical landscape, innovating technologies to transform the air travel experience, and building a sustainable future.

Carter focused on ensuring Delta’s freedom to operate, when he joined Delta in 2015 as E.V.P and Chief Legal Officer, as well as protecting Delta’s brand and advocating for the airline’s interests with policy makers around the world.

Peter Carter As a Maximising Strength

Under the supervision of management, government affairs ensured CARES Act support for Delta and the aviation industry in the form of payroll grants, saving thousands of jobs and positioning the U.S air travel industry to continue to provide essential services.

Additionally, he also accelerated the delivery of lifesaving vaccines throughout local communities during the COVID – 19 vaccination. Similarly Carter builds up a strong relationship with Delta partners during their restructuring, ensuring that Delta is ensured to maintain the best global network.

In his statement, Carter declared that he was honoured to lead the finest and most dedicated group of aviation professionals in the world. He admits that he looks forward to advancing Delta’s business goals from growing the greatest and most competitive commercial network on the globe, to connecting people to a more sustainable future for air travel as they look ahead to reaching their audacious sustainability goals.

As a personal disclosure of Carter, it goes that he was a partner at the international law firm of Dorsy and Whitney LLP, where he excelled as the firm’s Policy Committee. Before joining Dorsey, Carter clerked for Judge James B. Loken at the U.S Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.

For the past five years, Carter has presided over Delta’s UInited Way Campaign and under his tenure, the legal team has provided valuable pro bono work to the Georgia Justice Project, among other initiatives. Carter has also led as the executive sponsor of Delta’s Senior Talent Council, focused on developing future Delta leaders.
