In a significant move to enhance the infrastructure and capacity of the civil aviation sector in India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 15 airport projects across the country. These projects, valued at over Rs 9800 crore, mark a pivotal development in bolstering India’s aviation facilities.

Inauguration of New Terminal Buildings

Prime Minister Modi inaugurated 12 new Terminal Buildings at various airports, including Delhi, Lucknow, Pune, Kolhapur, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Aligarh, Azamgarh, Chitrakoot, Moradabad, Shravasti, and Adampur. These new terminals are set to significantly enhance the passenger handling capacity and improve the overall travel experience.

Foundation Stones for Future Growth

In addition to the inaugurated terminals, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stones for three new Terminal Buildings at Kadapa, Hubballi, and Belagavi airports. This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to expanding the aviation infrastructure, ensuring that it keeps pace with the growing demand for air travel in the country.

Boosting Passenger Capacity

The inaugurated terminal buildings collectively offer a substantial increase in capacity, capable of serving 620 lakh passengers annually. The upcoming terminals, once completed, are expected to further boost this number, bringing the total additional passenger handling capacity to 95 lakh passengers per annum. This expansion is a testament to the government’s foresight in planning for the future needs of the aviation sector.

Focus on Sustainability and Modern Amenities

The newly inaugurated and upcoming terminal buildings are designed with a keen focus on sustainability and passenger convenience. Features such as Double Insulated Roofing Systems, energy-saving canopies, and LED lighting are integral parts of these projects, reflecting the government’s commitment to environmentally friendly and energy-efficient infrastructure.

A Milestone in Civil Aviation

The inauguration and foundation laying of these 15 airport projects represent a major milestone in the development of India’s civil aviation sector. By enhancing the country’s airport infrastructure, the government aims not only to improve the travel experience for passengers but also to contribute to the economic growth and connectivity of the regions served by these airports. This initiative is a step forward in realizing the vision of making air travel accessible and efficient for the citizens of India.
