India’s rich culinary heritage comes alive during on am, and Mumbai is set to experience the vibrant flavours, traditions and warmth of Kerala’s most celebrated festive feast through a special on am Sadhya Pop-Up at PUBLIC Beer Hall & Snack Bar. Bringing together traditional recipes, festive dining rituals and a contemporary atmosphere, the event will offer guests an opportunity to enjoy the authentic spirit of Kerala’s grand banana leaf celebration.
The on am Sadhya is one of India’s most treasured food traditions, representing much more than a festive meal. It reflects the values of community, gratitude and togetherness that define Kerala’s harvest festival. Traditionally served on a fresh banana leaf, the elaborate feast brings together a wide variety of vegetarian delicacies, aromatic spices and regional recipes that have been passed down through generations.

For many families across Kerala and beyond, the Sadhya is a symbol of unity. People gather around the same table, share a carefully prepared spread and celebrate the cultural richness of the state’s culinary identity. Each dish has a unique place in the feast, creating a balanced combination of flavours, textures and aromas that make the experience unforgettable.
This year, PUBLIC Beer Hall & Snack Bar is recreating the magic of this traditional celebration in Mumbai through a special on am Sadhya Pop-Up in collaboration with Chef Abhishek Joshi of We Idliwale. Scheduled for 16 August 2026, the exclusive pop-up will feature two dedicated lunch sessions at 12 PM and 2 PM. Guests will have the opportunity to choose between two specially curated festive menus, including a classic Vegetarian Sadhya and a Non-Vegetarian Sadhya featuring Kerala-inspired seafood and meat preparations.
The vegetarian celebration menu captures the true essence of a traditional on am feast with a wide selection of iconic Kerala dishes. Guests can enjoy favorites such as avail, a comforting mix of vegetables cooked with coconut and spices, along with Olan, Alan, Chena Erissery and Kootu Curry, each representing the distinctive flavours of Kerala’s regional cooking.
The spread also includes Thoran, a coconut-based vegetable preparation, Pavakka Theeyal with its rich roasted spice flavours, and the popular Inji Puli, a sweet and tangy ginger-based accompaniment that adds a refreshing contrast to the meal. Traditional banana and jackfruit chips provide a crunchy festive touch, while Matta Rice forms the heart of the Sadhya experience.
The meal concludes on a sweet note with traditional Payasam, a beloved Kerala dessert that completes every on am celebration. The combination of authentic recipes and festive presentation allows diners to experience the depth and diversity of Kerala’s vegetarian cuisine.
For guests looking for a more indulgent coastal dining experience, the Non-Vegetarian Sadhya introduces an expanded selection of Kerala’s celebrated seafood and meat specialities. The menu highlights the bold flavours of the region with dishes such as Mutton Pepper Fry, Kozhi Porichathu and Koonthal Roast.
Seafood lovers can enjoy Fish Fry, Meen Peera and the iconic Alleppey Fish Curry, showcasing Kerala’s strong connection with the Arabian Sea and its long-standing seafood traditions. These dishes bring together fresh ingredients, traditional cooking techniques and carefully balanced spices that define the state’s culinary character.
The Vegetarian Sadhya will be available at ₹1,300, inclusive of all charges, while the Non-Vegetarian Sadhya will be priced at ₹1,750, also including all charges. Along with the festive food experience, guests can enjoy chilled beers and a lively dining atmosphere, creating a modern interpretation of a traditional celebration.
