The September 2026 edition of the Passport Index Report places the UAE passport at the top of the list, showing the strongest diplomatic travel relationships and mobility of any country in the world.

The UAE achieved a Mobility Score of 182, representing access to 91.9 per cent of destinations worldwide. The score measures the number of countries and territories where UAE passport holders can travel through visa-free entry, visa-on-arrival facilities, simplified entry procedures or electronic travel authorisation (eTA) systems.

This achievement places the UAE passport ahead of other global passports by offering its citizens one of the widest ranges of international travel opportunities.

UAE Passport Offers Visa-Free Access To 128 Global Destinations

The UAE passport provides visa-free travel access to a large majority of the destinations included in the ranking. Out of the total 182 destinations available to UAE citizens, 128 allow entry without requiring a visa before departure.

Another 44 destinations provide visa-on-arrival facilities or other simplified travel arrangements, allowing UAE travellers to complete entry procedures more easily after reaching their destination.

A further 10 destinations are accessible through electronic travel authorisation systems, which require travellers to complete an online approval process before departure.

Only 16 destinations currently require UAE passport holders to obtain a traditional visa. These include Afghanistan, the United States, Australia, Belize, Bhutan, Algeria, Eritrea, Cameroon, North Korea, Lesotho, Libya, Myanmar, Nicaragua, Somalia, Turkmenistan and Venezuela.

Some of these destinations also provide electronic visa options, although they remain classified as visa-required destinations under the ranking system.

UAE Passport Achieves Full Travel Access Across Europe And Gulf Region

The UAE passport records complete access across Europe, giving travellers 100 per cent overall mobility throughout the region. A total of 46 European destinations provide visa-free entry, while the remaining destinations are covered through electronic travel authorisation arrangements.

The passport also achieves full access across the Gulf region. UAE citizens can travel visa-free to Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Oman, strengthening regional connectivity for business, tourism and family travel.

Across the wider Middle East, the UAE passport also maintains 100 per cent overall access. The region includes 75 per cent visa-free access, 18.8 per cent visa-on-arrival or simplified entry options and 6.3 per cent access through electronic travel authorisation systems.

Beyond Europe and the Middle East, UAE travellers continue to benefit from strong global mobility. Access levels include 93.8 per cent in the Caribbean, 92.9 per cent in Oceania, 91.7 per cent in South America, 89.8 per cent in Asia, 88.9 per cent in Africa, 87 per cent in North America and 80 per cent in Central Asia.

UAE Passport Leads Regional And International Rankings

The UAE passport has achieved the top position across multiple regional and international comparisons. It ranks first among 50 Asian countries, 17 Middle Eastern countries and six Gulf nations.

The passport also leads rankings among 24 countries where Arabic is an official language, demonstrating its strong position within the Arab world.

Globally, the UAE passport also holds the highest position among several major international groups, including 159 World Trade Organisation members, 57 Organisation of Islamic Cooperation countries, 22 Arab League members, 11 BRICS countries and 132 G77 countries.

The ranking reflects the UAE’s growing international connections and the expansion of travel agreements that make global movement easier for its citizens.

UAE Travellers Enjoy Long Visa-Free Stays In Major Destinations

Several destinations provide UAE passport holders with extended visa-free travel periods. Countries including Dominica, El Salvador and Armenia allow stays of up to 180 days without requiring a traditional visa.

The United Kingdom and Canada provide access through electronic travel authorisation systems, also allowing stays of up to 180 days under their respective travel arrangements.

However, travellers must still follow individual destination rules. Some countries require additional procedures such as electronic tickets, arrival cards, tourist cards, registration or pre-registration before entry.

For example, destinations may require specific travel documentation, online registrations or arrival procedures even when a traditional visa is not needed.

UAE Passport Ranking Highlights Global Travel Advantage

The UAE passport ranking focuses on how easily UAE citizens can travel internationally. It is separate from the welcoming-country ranking, which measures how easily foreign passport holders can enter different countries.

In the welcoming-country ranking, the UAE is placed 91st among 199 countries. This ranking evaluates inbound travel access for international visitors and does not measure passport strength.

The UAE passport ranking is determined mainly through the Mobility Score, which calculates access based on visa-free destinations, visa-on-arrival options, simplified entry arrangements and electronic travel authorisations.

When passports receive the same Mobility Score, the ranking is decided by comparing the number of visa-free destinations first, followed by electronic travel authorisation access and visa-on-arrival or simplified entry options.
