Australia’s premier airline is extending an invitation to local community organizations throughout the nation to participate in its generous grants program worth several millions. This year, the Qantas Regional Grants initiative will distribute $2 million in grants to support not-for-profit groups and initiatives that contribute positively to regional communities. Over five years, the program has dedicated a total of $10 million.

Following an unprecedented level of interest last year, with thirty-two out of 1600 applicants from across Australia receiving grants. These awards consisted of cash, flight vouchers, and promotional support.

“Qantas has been connecting regional Australia for over 100 years and our regional grants program enables us to give back to grass roots community organisations that are the heart of many towns across the country,” Ms Yangoyan said.

“It’s been incredible to provide grants to more than 50 organisations across Australia who are doing important work for their regions.

“This crucial work includes supporting children experiencing food insecurity, providing free health services to vulnerable communities and protecting native species for the next generation.

“Being able to reinvest in the regions we serve is very rewarding for everyone at Qantas, and we encourage groups who are doing extraordinary work to enhance the lives of their communities to apply for a grant.”

Applications are open at qantas.com/regionalgrants, with a panel including community and Qantas representatives determining the recipients. The deadline for submissions is 10 May 2024, with the announcement of successful applicants in July 2024.

As the country’s leading regional airline, Qantas links over 57 regional communities to major cities. In the 2023 fiscal year, the Qantas Group supported nearly 6,000 jobs and injected $1.9 billion into the regional economy, significantly contributing to the regional tourism industry as well.

The Regional Grants program is part of Qantas’s broader commitment to supporting regional Australia, which includes offering discounted flights for residents in remote areas.

Since its inception in 2019, the program has supported diverse initiatives, from conservation efforts and recycling projects to healthcare and cultural festivals, demonstrating Qantas’s investment in the sustainable development of regional communities.
