Qatar proudly hosts the prestigious Arab Ministerial Council, marking a significant occasion as Qatar is celebrated as the “Arab Tourism Capital 2023.” This high-profile event will be held on December 13 at the Sheraton, bringing together influential Arab ministers to discuss key opportunities in the region.

Mr. Saad Bin Ali Al-Kharji, Chairman of Qatar Tourism, expressed his enthusiasm: “We are thrilled to host the Arab Ministerial Meeting. This event symbolizes our shared commitment to fostering collaboration in Arab tourism and Qatar’s role in facilitating this. It’s a celebration of our collective achievements across Arab nations. We anticipate a meaningful event that will reinforce our community ties and pave the way for a flourishing Arab tourism sector.”

Additionally, he highlighted the adoption of the Unified Tourist Visa by the GCC Supreme Council as a major stride towards the Council’s vision of enhanced cooperation and stronger relationships between member states. This visa is expected to foster cultural and social exchanges, deepen mutual understanding, and catalyze economic growth and development in tourism and other sectors across the region.

Qatar’s recognition as the “Arab Tourism Capital 2023” follows its successful hosting of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and a massive tourism promotion campaign. This achievement showcases Qatar’s hospitality, cultural richness, and traditional Arab heritage, facilitated by the “Hayya” platform for easier visa processing.

The accolade reflects Qatar’s remarkable features, including its traditional markets, unique museums, advanced transport systems, luxurious accommodations, and award-winning airport and airline. Furthermore, Qatar has introduced 128 state-of-the-art meeting and conference facilities.

Since receiving this title, Qatar’s tourism sector has seen impressive growth, attracting three million visitors – the highest in five years. Qatar has hosted several major international events, such as the 2023 Geneva International Motor Show, the GKA Freestyle Kite World Cup Finals Qatar 2023, Expo Doha 2023, and the Qatar Travel Mart 2023. With a goal to draw 6 million visitors annually by 2030, Qatar continues to demonstrate its excellence as the “Arab Tourism Capital 2023.”
