Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA) proudly announces a remarkable first half of the year, as the emirate achieves its highest-ever arrival numbers for a six-month period. Over the course of January to June 2023, Ras Al Khaimah welcomed an impressive 600,000 visitors, marking a significant 14.8% increase compared to the same period in 2022. This surge also led to the highest tourism-related revenue ever recorded for a half-year period.

The outstanding performance underscores Ras Al Khaimah’s commitment to becoming a future-forward destination, evidenced by strategic investments, partnerships, and initiatives aimed at bolstering tourism. Noteworthy achievements in the first half include:

Over 52% of visitor arrivals attributed to international tourism rebound.

Attaining Silver Certification for sustainable tourism, solidifying Ras Al Khaimah’s goal to become a regional leader in sustainable tourism by 2025.

Collaborating with Qatar Airways to enhance aviation strategy, providing direct access to the emirate via a global network spanning 150+ countries.

Forming a partnership with FTI GROUP to drive inbound tourism from Germany, a significant source market.

Unveiling the visionary design for the USD $3.9 billion Wynn Al Marjan Island, set to open in 2027.

Achieving a remarkable year-on-year growth of +33.6% in room nights due to the introduction of new hotel brands in 2022.

Expanding the hotel portfolio with renowned names like Earth Hotels, Le Meridien, and Nobu Hotels.

Welcoming over 2,500 passengers and crew through six calls by luxury cruise liners.

Achieving a 26% increase in MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) room nights compared to H1 2022.

Launching the innovative Wedding Certification Programme, solidifying the emirate’s position as a premier wedding destination.

Raki Phillips, CEO of Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority, expressed optimism for 2023 and beyond, highlighting the importance of agility, relevance, and progress. June showcased robust performance as well, with a 39.6% increase in visitor arrivals and notable growth in tourism-related revenue, occupancy, and Average Daily Rate.

The authority’s commitment to responsible tourism is demonstrated through its partnership with EarthCheck, aiming to make the emirate a sustainable tourism leader by 2025. Enhanced global connectivity, expansion of the hospitality sector, and focused efforts in the MICE market contribute to Ras Al Khaimah’s continuous growth trajectory.
