Issues related to growing the domestic and inbound tourism potential even further were discussed.


The President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, on September 19th, headed a meeting on the ways to grow the domestic and inbound tourism potential even more in the country.


For financial stability, diversification is important. So, in Uzbekistan, large-scale activity is being conducted on the structural renovation of the financial system. Specifically, the tourism industry has been earmarked as one of the key drivers, and the favorable conditions are being created for its growth and expansion.


For instance, to tourists, the issuance of visas was made easy, queues at the airports and needless checks were removed, green corridors were set up, and the norms related to currency exchange was relaxed. For tourism enterprises, the rates of social tax and turnover tax are set at 1 percent. The rates of land tax and property tax are decreased by 90 percent. The number of placements increased 3 times compared to 2017. It almost reached 125,000. A system of electronic registration of the visitors has been developed.


The tourism in 2022 is recuperating from COVID-19. The number of foreign tourists who visited Uzbekistan, by September 2022 has tripled compared to last year. From the beginning of 2022, the number of tourist exports amounted to $926 million. The foreign tourists and their length of stay have grown to an average of 4-5 days and their spending – up to $305.
