Renewable energy powers RTX’s Collins Aerospace facility

Collins Aerospace, a business unit of RTX (NYSE: RTX), has declared that its facility in Tanauan City, Philippines, is now fully powered by renewable energy. This facility falls under the umbrella of Collins’ Interiors business and is engaged in the production of galleys, galley inserts, lavatories, seating, and oxygen systems for commercial airplanes.

“We’re committed to reducing the greenhouse gas emissions of our manufacturing operations,” said LeAnn Ridgeway, chief sustainability officer for Collins. “By switching to 100% renewable electricity, our Tanauan City site will lower Collins’ greenhouse gas emissions by roughly 25,000 metric tons each year. With a yearly consumption of 36,000 megawatt hours of green electricity, equivalent to the annual electricity usage of nearly 5,000 homes, it is one of RTX’s largest renewable energy projects to date.”

The electricity for the Tanauan City site is supplied by a nearby geothermal power station, which utilizes the Earth’s internal heat to produce steam and generate clean electricity. This initiative is part of RTX’s global commitment to sustainability, with this site being among over 70 renewable energy projects worldwide. This includes more than 20 RTX facilities that have transitioned to sourcing 100% of their power from renewable resources.
