Rwanda generated a record revenue of 91 million USD from 157 summits and events that attracted over 67,000 delegates in 2023.
Rwanda’s MICE sector is a testament to the country’s economic resilience and progressive strategies.
Frank Murangwa, Director of Destination Marketing at Rwanda Convention Bureau revealed this.
Some of the biggest events Rwanda organised include the 6th Women Deliver, the 23rd World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) global summit, the inaugural Trace Awards & Festival, and the Global Citizen’s Move Afrika concert that was headlined by hip hop icon Kendrick Lamar.
All these events, and several others, were taking place in Africa for the first time.
The impressive feat not only underscores the sector’s post-pandemic recovery but also positions it as a pivotal force propelling Rwanda towards sustained economic development.
The sector contributed $64 million into the economy in 2022, making last year’s performance a significant leap forward.
The stellar results can be attributed to the country’s commitment to fostering an environment conducive to hosting world-class events.
Central to this success are the state-of-the-art facilities such as Kigali Convention Centre and BK Arena. These venues play a pivotal role in attracting global events to Rwanda.

The ongoing development initiatives, including the upgrade of Amahoro National Stadium, further solidify Rwanda’s commitment to providing top-notch infrastructure for global events.
The enhancements will expand the nation’s hosting capacity and improve the experience for guests and organizers.
