Europe’s leading airline, Ryanair, has introduced a rapid customer account verification initiative on December 8th. This step aims to enhance customer satisfaction and shield them from potential online threats such as ‘ghost brokering,’ ‘phishing,’ and other malicious scams by online fraudsters. The new process also safeguards against pirate OTAs using fake customer details to overcharge passengers.

Starting December 8th, new myRyanair account users will undergo a one-time, free account verification lasting less than 30 seconds, mirroring the approach of established platforms like AirBnB and Revolut.

Termed the “Know Your Passenger” (KYP) initiative, this measure ensures customers receive optimal care and pricing from Ryanair. By confirming accounts are created by genuine individuals, KYP prevents fraudsters from exploiting Ryanair bookings in their scams. Additionally, KYP empowers customers with direct access and control over their bookings, allowing them to manage changes, receive notifications (including safety and security alerts), and stay informed about any disruptions.

Dara Brady of Ryanair stated, “We are pleased to roll out our new Know Your Passenger initiative, protecting customers from ‘ghost brokering’ and phishing. This quick and easy, once-off verification process takes less than 30 seconds to complete, ensuring access to the lowest fares and up-to-date flight information.” The KYP initiative applies to new myRyanair account users effective December 8th.
