Ahead of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants event, the first in a sequence of prestigious accolades was unveiled, honoring São Paulo’s Janaína Torres as The World’s Best Female Chef 2024. Torres, an acclaimed chef and co-owner of several notable culinary ventures including A Casa do Porco, has been celebrated for her exceptional contributions to the global culinary scene.

Janaína Torres, the talented chef behind São Paulo’s A Casa do Porco, has been honored with The World’s Best Female Chef Award for 2024. Previously recognized as Latin America’s Best Female Chef in the 2023 edition of Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants, Torres’s influence extends beyond the kitchen. Her culinary empire in São Paulo includes the prestigious A Casa do Porco, the relaxed Bar da Dona Onça, Hot Pork kiosk, Merenda da Cidade sandwich shop, and Sorveteria do Centro ice cream parlor, marking her as a pivotal figure in the city’s food culture.

In addition to her culinary achievements, Torres is known for her dedication to social activism, particularly her collaboration with the São Paulo government to enhance the nutrition of 1.8 million children over four years. Amid the pandemic, she rallied the Brazilian culinary and hospitality sectors to advocate for crucial financial aid from the government.

A Casa do Porco, renowned for its innovative and sustainable approach to pork cuisine, secured the 12th spot on The World’s 50 Best Restaurants list in 2023, further cementing Chef Torres’s status in the international culinary domain.
