This district will host a museum, cultural center, and plaza, all dedicated to celebrating Islamic cultures from around the globe. The KEC master plan also incorporates a blend of hospitality, residential, retail, and commercial spaces, alongside sports and recreational facilities. Additionally, the district will be directly linked to the Haramain Train Station, offering high-speed rail connections between Madinah, Jeddah, and Makkah.

Jerome Briet, Chief Development Officer for Europe, the Middle East & Africa at Marriott International, emphasized the growing need for high-quality hotel accommodations in the Holy Cities.

Madinah’s Role in Vision 2030

Madinah has long been a major center for religious tourism, welcoming millions of Muslim visitors annually. As part of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 initiative, the city is increasingly becoming a hub for cultural, economic, and infrastructure advancements aimed at diversifying the Kingdom’s economy and boosting its tourism industry. This includes expanding hospitality services, enhancing cultural and recreational attractions, and upgrading the city’s infrastructure.

Mohammad Al Mubarak, CEO of Knowledge Economic City, emphasized the importance of Marriott’s partnership in bringing KEC’s vision for Madinah to life.

This agreement forms a key part of Marriott’s ongoing growth in Saudi Arabia, where the company’s portfolio now spans over 40 properties and more than 10,000 rooms across 13 different brands.
