A magnificent cake-mixing ceremony was recently hosted by Sayaji Hotel Kolhapur, a popular location in South Maharashtra, a renowned ritual that heralds the start of the holiday season. On November 4, 2023, the magnificent Skygreen at Sayaji Hotel Kolhapur provided as the setting for this lovely occasion.

Amitabh Sharma, General Manager of Sayaji Hotel Kolhapur, expressed his enthusiasm for the occasion, emphasising the importance of the Christmas cake in their holiday celebrations.

He stated, “Christmas is right around the corner, and the traditional Christmas cake is an essential part of our festivities. To mark this special occasion, we were thrilled to host the cake mixing event, uniting our esteemed guests, dedicated team, and people from diverse backgrounds in embracing the spirit of the season.”

As the chief guest, Shri. Prithviraj Patil, Trustee of the D. Y. Patil Group, emphasised the hotel’s dedication to spreading joy and sustaining the Christmas spirit in the community.

As participants gathered to marinade a range of dried fruits, including almonds, cashews, and pistachios, the cake making ritual saw a lovely fusion of cultures. These components were gently steeped in a variety of spirits to imbue the cakes with rich flavours and a festive holiday vibe.

Guests were able to watch the fragrant metamorphosis of these components as they became an essential component of the beloved Christmas cake recipe at Sayaji Hotel Kolhapur.

This age-old English tradition, which harks back to the origins of the Christmas cake as plum porridge, gave rise to the delectable confections characterized by an assortment of ingredients. Moist Zante currants, sultanas (golden raisins), and raisins, all soaked in spirits such as brandy, rum, whisky, wine, and sherry, are the heart of these cakes. They are lovingly adorned with layers of marzipan and icing, often featuring decorative elements like plaid ribbon bands and Christmas-themed models, including snowmen and fir trees.

The evening was filled with calming music and tasty high tea pastries, providing the ideal environment for the event. The event brought the community together in a celebration of shared traditions and laughter, spreading the warmth and love of the holiday season.
