On Friday, the Seoul city government inaugurated a welcome lounge aimed at promoting the city’s latest slogan, “Seoul, My Soul.” This new initiative is located in a prime tourist spot in central Seoul, celebrated for the conservation of traditional Korean houses, known as hanok.

Positioned within the Bukchon Lounge—a representative hanok operated by the city government in Bukchon Hanok Village—the lounge welcomes visitors daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., except on Mondays and Lunar New Year, which this year falls on a Saturday, as per city officials.

Bukchon Hanok Village, nestled in the Jongno district of Seoul, is renowned amongst tourists for its meticulously restored hanok houses, presenting a glimpse into Korea’s rich architectural heritage.

This promotional lounge is designed to offer an immersive experience, featuring an exhibition space that doubles as a photo zone. It’s embellished with various decorative elements, such as lamps and furniture that incorporate the new city logo and its distinctive color scheme, all set against the picturesque backdrop of a traditional hanok.

Additionally, the lounge features a section dedicated to commercial products adorned with the city’s slogan and a DIY zone where visitors have the opportunity to craft their own bookmarks, adding a personal touch to their Seoul experience.

Ma Chae-suk, an official from the Seoul city government, expressed a warm invitation to both domestic and international visitors to explore the lounge during the Lunar New Year holiday. He emphasized the city’s desire to extend a hearty welcome to all guests, hoping that they would feel the hospitality Seoul has to offer.

The introduction of the “Seoul, My Soul” welcome lounge is poised to significantly enhance Seoul’s appeal as a global tourist destination. By blending traditional culture with modern branding, it aims to create a unique and memorable experience for visitors, further promoting Seoul’s image on the international stage. This initiative underscores the city’s commitment to embracing its heritage while innovatively engaging with tourists from around the world.
