Tourism Seychelles is advising those looking to visit the beautiful Indian Ocean destination to be vigilant when using third-party websites for travel authorization requests.
The Seychelles officials have highlighted that the legitimate process for securing Travel Authorizations is through the Seychelles Electronic Border System (SEBS), which is solely available on its official government website. Here, an application fee of €10 is required per submission. They caution that the SEBS platform may not recognize authorizations requested via third-party sites.
“A third-party website emerged following recent complaints received by Immigration officers at the Seychelles airport. Travellers disembarking reported paying for their travel authorisations, with some not initially processed, resulting in additional payments. It is important to highlight that these websites operate with fees significantly higher than the standard 10 euros processing fee. It is our duty to remind visitors and international partners to use our official website for travel authorisation, urging caution and staying informed to prevent potential dissatisfaction,” said Mrs Willemin.
Mrs. Willemin also warned that using unofficial websites could lead to problems at departure or the need to pay again for authorization upon arrival, incurring extra costs for travelers and possibly tarnishing the destination’s reputation.
Travelers encountering such websites are encouraged to report them to the Seychelles authorities via the Tourism Department at seychelles.com.
