Just a day following the Republic Day festivities, New Delhi’s airport was the scene of a significant security infringement. An unauthorized individual was discovered trespassing on the airfield, meandering about the area. This incident occurs at a time when Indian security forces are particularly vigilant due to important events like Republic Day.

The presence of the intruder was first noticed by an Air India pilot during the parking process of his aircraft. He swiftly relayed this information to the air traffic control (ATC). The Central Industrial Security Forces (CISF) responded with immediacy to this alert. The individual was promptly detained and turned over to the local police authorities.

The air traffic controllers were alerted by the pilot when he observed the man crossing the aircraft’s path during taxiing. The Airport Operation Control Centre (AOCC) was immediately notified by ATC, which led to the quick response of CISF personnel. They captured the intruder and handed him over to local law enforcement. This sighting by the Air India pilot occurred around 11:30 pm, just as the flight had safely landed and was navigating to its parking position.

Delhi Police have stated that this incident did not result from any lapse in their security measures. They identified the intruder as a drug-dependent individual from the Nuh district in Haryana. The suspect has since been placed in judicial custody following a court order, while the police continue to investigate his motives.

This individual, now in custody, has been revealed to be a drug user from Nuh, Haryana, as per initial investigations.

The authorities are handling this situation with the highest level of concern, treating it as a grave breach of security. They are undertaking comprehensive steps to tackle and rectify the situation, ensuring such breaches are averted in the future.
