Singapore Airlines (SIA) has successfully secured the International Air Transport Association (IATA) global re-certification for its management of perishable goods at its Singapore hub. The re-certification, effective from February 1, 2024, spans a three-year period.

This recognition is founded on the guidelines outlined in IATA’s Perishable Cargo Regulations, incorporating input from regulatory bodies and industry professionals. It affirms SIA’s ongoing dedication to meeting the highest standards in food safety within the air freight sector, aiming to reduce food waste throughout the supply chain.

This accreditation provides assurance to SIA’s customers that their time- and temperature-sensitive cargo will experience efficient and reliable transport through SIA’s THRUFRESH service.

THRUFRESH includes specialized cold chain services like priority uplift and handling, rapid ramp transfers, and cold room facilities to ensure the preservation of perishables. Additionally, Changi Airport offers dry ice top-up services for transshipments.

In 2021, SIA collaborated with leading terminal operators and ground handlers worldwide to establish quality corridors within its cargo network, aligning with IATA standards. Currently, nine SIA stations, namely Amsterdam, Barcelona, Brussels, Frankfurt, Ho Chi Minh City, Hong Kong SAR, Hyderabad, Singapore, and Zurich, are certified under this quality corridor network.

Marvin Tan, Senior Vice President Cargo at Singapore Airlines, expressed, “At Singapore Airlines, we are committed to delivering the highest level of service to our cargo customers. The IATA CEIV Fresh re-certification is an affirmation of the stringent safety and quality standards that we adhere to when transporting perishable cargo.”

Nick Careen, Senior Vice President Operations, Safety, and Security at IATA, congratulated Singapore Airlines on achieving the IATA CEIV Fresh re-certification. He highlighted SIA’s investment in products and services to minimize perishable product damage and waste, underscoring the airline’s commitment to delivering fresh, high-quality products globally and positioning it as a leader in the industry.

In 2021, Singapore Airlines became the first airline in Southeast Asia to receive the IATA Centre of Excellence for Independent Validators in Perishable Logistics (CEIV Fresh) certification, maintaining its exclusive status as the only airline in the region with this accreditation.
