Six Senses expands in Italy with new hotels in Milan and Lake Como, following the success of Six Senses Rome, offering luxury, wellness, and cultural experiences.
Six Senses has announced exciting new developments in its Italian expansion by signing hotel management agreements with Gruppo Statuto. Following the successful debut of Six Senses Rome in 2023, the brand will now open two new properties: Six Senses Milan and Six Senses Lake Como. This partnership adds another chapter to the Six Senses story in Italy, known for its impeccable blend of wellness, sustainability, and luxury hospitality.

The Six Senses brand, which falls under IHG Hotels & Resorts’ Luxury & Lifestyle portfolio, is growing rapidly across Europe. With nearly 100 luxury properties already open in the region, including eight Six Senses locations, the group is set to make a significant impact in Italy’s upscale travel market. These two new additions will complement other Six Senses destinations across Switzerland, France, Israel, Portugal, Spain, and Türkiye.
A Landmark Destination: Six Senses Milan
Six Senses Milan is set to open its doors at Via Brera 19, a prime location in the heart of the artistic Brera quarter. This vibrant district is synonymous with authentic Milanese heritage and culture. As a hub for fashion, art, and history, it offers a perfect backdrop for Six Senses’ approach to hospitality, which blends luxury and mindfulness.
Neil Jacobs, CEO, Six Senses, shared, “Italy moves you like nowhere else. In few places do art, architecture, gastronomy, and the joy of living intertwine so effortlessly. Six Senses Milan and Six Senses Lake Como both speak to a purpose. The first is intentionally sized and designed for attentive hospitality and holistic wellness within one of Europe’s most dynamic fashion capitals. The second is a serene escape within the most beautiful lakeside gardens just 90 minutes away.”

From the rich arabescato marble accents to the antique brass detailing, the hotel’s design honors craftsmanship and timeless style. The Pinacoteca Museum and surrounding galleries add to the cultural allure, while the hotel’s commitment to sustainability is demonstrated in its use of eco-friendly materials and Earth Lab. Guests will also enjoy a tranquil internal courtyard and a specialty restaurant offering seasonal gastronomy.
The hotel’s 68 guest rooms include 15 luxurious suites, with two suites featuring private plunge pools. As with all Six Senses properties, a state-of-the-art spa will offer a range of high-tech, high-touch treatments, creating a sanctuary of wellness. A rooftop bar and sky pool will complete the experience, offering views over Milan’s skyline.
Lakeside Luxury: Six Senses Lake Como
Six Senses Lake Como will bring an elegant retreat to one of Italy’s most iconic leisure destinations. Located in Cadenabbia di Griante on the western shores of Lake Como, this property will occupy the historic Grand Hotel Cadenabbia, a site that has drawn notable figures such as Queen Victoria, Lord Byron, and other prominent artists and celebrities.
Following a meticulous restoration, Six Senses Lake Como will provide an exceptional resort lifestyle that blends the region’s rich cultural heritage with the brand’s commitment to sustainability and wellness. The expansive gardens surrounding the property are home to rare plants and trees, creating a picturesque environment where guests can relax and rejuvenate.
With 102 generously sized rooms and suites, the hotel will offer an intimate atmosphere despite its grand six-story structure. The number of rooms has been intentionally reduced to provide more space for spa and wellness facilities, a hallmark of the Six Senses experience. The spa will feature cutting-edge treatments, including hydrotherapy and personalized wellness programs. The outdoor pool, sun deck, and floating pool on the lake will provide guests with multiple options to enjoy the serene environment.
Dining at Six Senses Lake Como will be an unforgettable experience, with a specialty restaurant and terrace bar offering stunning views of the lake. The fourth-floor terrace is expected to become a favorite spot for poetry, prose, and romantic proposals, with its breathtaking scenery serving as inspiration for creatives and romantics alike.
Gruppo Statuto: A Leading Force in Italian Hospitality
The signing of these new properties also highlights the expanding influence of Gruppo Statuto, Italy’s leading real estate group specializing in high-end hotels. With these two new Six Senses properties in Milan and Lake Como, Gruppo Statuto continues its strategic partnership with the Six Senses brand. In addition to these properties, the group has already acquired Six Senses London, Six Senses Ibiza, and Six Senses Rome, further solidifying its status as a key player in luxury hospitality.
Giuseppe Statuto, Owner, Gruppo Statuto, noted, “Gruppo Statuto has further strengthened its collaboration with Six Senses to bring the brand to renowned destinations. Following its success in Ibiza and Rome and its upcoming opening in London, Gruppo Statuto is delighted to announce two further historical buildings in iconic international addresses. The Gruppo Statuto Luxury Hotels portfolio is now a benchmark within the high-end hospitality segment, where Italy leads interests and investments, due to its history, culture, and lifestyle.”
Gruppo Statuto’s portfolio has become a benchmark within the high-end hospitality sector, driven by Italy’s appeal as a destination known for its rich history, culture, and lifestyle. In 2023, the group more than doubled its offering in Italy, including the highly anticipated return of the InterContinental brand with the opening of InterContinental Rome Ambasciatori Palace. The addition of Six Senses Milan and Six Senses Lake Como brings the total number of IHG’s luxury hotels in Italy to 30, with an additional eight in development.
Six Senses’ focus on sustainability and wellness has resonated with travelers seeking immersive and rejuvenating experiences. The brand’s commitment to eco-friendly practices, combined with its ability to blend seamlessly with the local culture, sets it apart from other luxury hotel brands.
