Snowfall warning in various parts of United Kingdom

The 1^st April, 2022 is expected to bring a last gasp from winter, with weather warnings for snow and ice in parts of the UK.

The Met Office has issued two yellow warnings for Friday- A warning for ice covers northeast England, eastern Scotland, and the Shetland Islands until 10am, with possible travel disruption and injuries from slips and falls.  A warning for snow and ice covers a small part of south-east England until 10am, including coastal areas of Suffolk, Essex and the eastern part of Kent

Two flood warnings and a flood alert have been issued by the Environment Agency:

• Flooding is “expected” at Coalhouse Point on the River Thames in Essex

• Flooding is “possible” in the areas between Putney Bridge and Teddington Weir in west London

• There are no flood warnings or alerts in place for Scotland or Wales

Overnight into Friday, temperatures were expected to reach just 2C (35.6F) in London and Edinburgh, with the warmest temperature of 6C in Devon and Cornwall, and the coldest of 1C (33.8F) in Aberdeenshire and North Yorkshire. The Friday and Saturday are likely to reach 7C (44.6F) or 8C (46.4F), increasing to 9C (48.2F) and 10C (50F) on Saturday.

Meteorologist Matty Box said of Friday’s weather that it will be concentrated and there will be snow showers. It will be eastern and northern areas of the UK that are more likely to see any showers of rain, sleet or snow. The weather will then improve over the weekend, with some sunny spells.

The showers will become less frequent, but still with the chance of some wintry showers in the east coast and the North Sea coast in particular through Saturday.

There should be a fair amount of sunshine as well.
