Sofitel

Sofitel seizes the ideal moment to introduce its innovative Haute Croissanterie concept, inviting chefs globally to reimagine the beloved French breakfast icon.

The quintessential French pastry, a crisp and flaky croissant served piping hot from the oven, takes center stage at Sofitel hotels worldwide as the brand commemorates its 60th anniversary.

Elevating Croissants to Haute Couture

The iconic butter croissant, a symbol of French indulgence, continues to captivate taste buds globally. On World Croissant Day, January 30th, Sofitel unveils its groundbreaking concept, Haute Croissanterie. The inaugural experience is launched by ambassadors from three Sofitel hotels: Sofitel Dubai The Obelisk (UAE), Sofitel Ambassador Seoul Hotel (South Korea), and Sofitel Legend Casco Viejo (Panama). Together, they perfected the Pur Beurre croissant recipe, promising the finest croissants in town. These ambassadors, in collaboration with other pastry chefs in their regions, spread their excellence during a dedicated week in Dubai. Thanks to these trailblazers, 30 Sofitel properties will embrace Haute Croissanterie, introducing local creations named “cultural link” croissants, symbolizing Sofitel’s commitment to connecting cultures globally.

Sofitel’s consultant chef, Anne-Cécile Degenne, known for her global training, conceived this original concept. A connoisseur of upscale establishments, she collaborated with the kitchen staff of three selected hotels to develop new sweet and savory recipes, available in pastry shops from the end of January.

Anne-Cécile Degenne remarks, “Fascinated by French pastry, it’s a dream to deploy a concept uniting Sofitel hotel brigades globally, turning cooking into a universal language. Through Haute Croissanterie, we’ve brought together passionate pastry chefs worldwide, creatively competing to reimagine the universal emblem of the French breakfast.”

Chefs as Ambassadors

At Sofitel Dubai The Obelisk, Chef Romain Castet presents the Green Goat croissant with avocado and local goat’s cheese. In Panama’s Sofitel Legend Casco Viejo, Chef John Moreno introduces the Zesty Symphony croissant with lemony notes. Meanwhile, at Sofitel Ambassador Seoul Hotel (South Korea), Chef Henry Kim crafts the Spicy Gochujang Galore croissant, a fusion of Korean spices and French finesse.

Nicolas Gronier, Sofitel’s Vice President of Global Marketing, states, “As the first international hotel brand from France, Sofitel is a global ambassador of ‘French zest.’ With our 60th anniversary approaching, we highlight the iconic French pastry: the croissant. Leveraging the creativity of our chefs, we offer customers a unique culinary and cultural journey, seamlessly blending French excellence with local flavors.”

Irresistible Gifts

On January 30th, the three hotel pastry shops will gift 60 croissants each to 60 fortunate aesthetes, celebrating Sofitel’s 60th anniversary. Guests experience a delectable glimpse of diverse culinary delights and a taste of the French art of living.

Year-round Indulgence

The Haute Croissanterie is not a fleeting concept. Chef ambassadors will unveil new croissant recipes seasonally. Monthly breakfast events promise a lasting and delightful impression of this innovative culinary experience.
