Cases of coronavirus are increasing in Spain. Hence, it is not unlikely that old protocols for pandemics are brought back. Brits heading to Canary island and Costa del Sol might be forced to wear masks.
The Spain government has ruled out the mandatory mask-wearing protocol. They have also encouraged several public events. Many bars, shops, and pubs have been kept open. The government official is now blaming these relaxations for the growth of the cases.
It is currently not mandatory to wear masks in public spaces. However, wearing the masks are now been slowly advisable. Spain is not forcing people to wear masks currently. However, as the cases are increasing 2020 might come back again.
Amós García Rojas who is a Canary Island public health official stated that he would most certainly request everyone around to wear masks as fast as possible.
He also added that no matter if the pandemic situation is gone or not the restrictions shall be followed to avoid future discord. Additionally, in certain cases, the outdoor mask-wearing is to be followed. However, the indoor mask-wearing protocols are not made a mandate. In case the situation worsens it is possible that the Spanish government strengthens the indoor mask-wearing.
On the occasion of mask-wearing and infection spreading Mr Rojas stated that even if the protocols are brought back the situation would not be as ‘dramatic as before’. Nonetheless, he stated that outdoor parties and mass gatherings are needed to be controlled to make sure that the virus does not spread much.
The Mayor of Malaga said that it is already necessary to wear masks indoors. He also stretched on the fact that vaccination should be made a mandate in any case.
