Stockholm Arlanda Airport

Starting from mid-April, the link between Sweden’s primary airport and North America will see a notable expansion with the introduction of two additional long-haul flights, enhancing the airport’s current offerings. United Airlines and Delta Air Lines will both re-establish their presence, launching services from Stockholm Arlanda to Newark and JFK respectively for the 2024 summer season. This expansion will boost the weekly departures to the North American continent to nearly 30, with as many as five flights a day. The new services are poised to significantly improve connections between Stockholm and key North American hubs, facilitating access to both well-established and burgeoning markets in Central and South America.

The announcement of United Airlines and Delta Air Lines’ return to Stockholm Arlanda Airport holds significant interest not just for those looking to visit relatives or explore new destinations, but crucially for the myriad Swedish businesses engaged with North America. Given its status as one of Sweden’s key markets for trade and exports, efficient connectivity is essential for the success of industries and corporations.

That both United Airlines and Delta Air Lines chooses to return to Stockholm Arlanda Airport shows a great understanding for Stockholm’s central role as an important hub in the region, both regarding business and cargo as well as for those traveling for leisure, says Elizabeth Axtelius, Director Aviation Business at Swedavia och Swedavia. To further facilitate for important goods such as technology and pharmaceuticals to be delivered at shorter times is and a main goal of Swedavia, as well as increase the connectivity for people to meet. The new routes, in addition to the existing ones from Stockholm Arlanda and the upcoming two served by Air Canada, will create an excellent connectivity which I think will benefit the market enormously, says she.

In the summer of 2024, Stockholm Arlanda Airport will feature direct flights to various North American cities. Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, and Air Canada will begin operating flights to Toronto, Montreal, and New York on April 10, June 6, and June 13 respectively, complementing existing services by SAS to Toronto and New York.
