A holiday park in West Sussex has had to evacuate its premises, resulting in hospitalization for an individual, following the overflow of the River Arun. This situation has led to pressing advisories for individuals to seek higher ground.

In the aftermath of Storm Kathleen, the country is facing numerous flood alerts, and the West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service is gearing up for rescue operations in Littlehampton, a coastal town. They are also addressing a critical flooding event at the Medmerry holiday park, located between East Wittering and Selsey, which is approximately 13 miles west of Littlehampton. The service has advised anyone near the holiday park to move to higher ground if it is possible to exit their residences.

The South East Coast Ambulance has deployed “a number of resources” to aid in the evacuation and rescue of several individuals from the affected area. According to a spokesperson, several people have been evaluated and triaged at a proximate facility. One individual, exhibiting symptoms of hypothermia, has been transported to a hospital.

The nation is under a heightened state of alert due to 95 flood warnings and 209 flood alerts issued by the Environment Agency. These alerts include cautions about life-threatening gales that could reach speeds of up to 65mph.

Additionally, weather advisories for wind are active across the southern coast of England until 9 am on Tuesday, extending to the western coast of Wales and parts of northern England until 3 pm. These advisories warn of potential power outages and probable disruptions to travel.
