Sunborn yacht hosts major business travel event in Gibraltar

In a significant move to rejuvenate the business travel sector post-pandemic, Gibraltar is set to welcome the Business Travel Association’s (BTA) autumn conference. This prestigious event, aiming to support the industry’s resurgence, will be uniquely held aboard the Sunborn Yacht Hotel.

The conference, scheduled for September 29 to October 2, is a first of its kind, offering delegates a three-night stay, unlike previous events. This extension allows attendees not only an extra day for in-depth exploration of Gibraltar but also presents ample opportunities for informal networking.

Flights for delegates to the conference are arranged from major airports including Heathrow, Gatwick, and Manchester, with registration set to open on February 5. The choice of the Sunborn Yacht Hotel as the venue highlights the innovative approach of the BTA in hosting their flagship event.

Clive Wratten, the Chief Executive of the BTA, expressed his gratitude towards Gibraltar’s Minister of Tourism for his support in bringing the conference to the territory. He emphasized that this autumn conference is the association’s largest annual event and shared his excitement about offering a three-night conference in Gibraltar. He remarked that this spectacular location is ideal for fostering networking, engaging in debates, and participating in educational and socially enriching activities.

Gibraltar’s Tourism Minister, Christian Santos, commented on the significance of the event, highlighting it as a celebration of the vibrant business travel industry in Gibraltar’s historic center. He pointed out that business travel is not merely about reaching destinations but is integral in building connections, unlocking opportunities, and showcasing a diverse range of innovation and commerce.

Minister Santos also noted that Gibraltar serves as an exemplary destination that promotes growth and excellence in travel and hospitality. He proudly acknowledged Gibraltar’s role as an ambassador in this domain.

The hosting of the BTA autumn conference in Gibraltar, particularly aboard the Sunborn Yacht Hotel, is anticipated to have a substantial impact on tourism.
