According to a government statement, the focal point of this ambitious plan is the establishment of a world-class K-tourism recreation belt in Suncheon City and across the southwestern province.

Project Phases and Budget Allocation
The project, which will unfold in three phases, is set to commence with a national budget of 28 billion won this year, allocated to 62 different projects. The first phase is anticipated to be fully operational by 2027, showcasing South Jeolla Province’s dedication to rejuvenating regional tourism through innovative approaches.

Innovative Tourism Strategies
These strategies encompass the transformation of the province into a hub for art enthusiasts, island tourism, distinctive nighttime experiences, and eco-tourism, complemented by the region’s culinary offerings. The government’s methodology includes providing expert consulting to local authorities from the project’s inception to ensure its success.

Suncheon City’s Leading Role
Suncheon City will spearhead efforts to enhance Korea’s cultural tourism landscape. Its aspiration to evolve into a “garden culture city” revolves around the renowned Suncheonman Bay National Garden. Plans entail establishing an “animation cluster” to attract animation production firms and youthful start-ups, known as “K-Disney Suncheon.”

Integration of Cultural Spaces
This initiative aims to seamlessly integrate cultural spaces with business requirements, augmenting Suncheon City’s allure for residents and tourists alike. The strategy involves not only revitalizing existing areas but also linking Suncheonman Bay National Garden with the city’s original downtown, fostering a vibrant community for businesses and creatives.

Project Implementation Timeline
Suncheon is poised to submit a central investment review request this month, with full project implementation anticipated following approval in June. The objective is a swift turnaround, with renovations slated to commence in July and company relocations expected by October.

Commitment to Regional Development
This substantial investment and development endeavor underscore South Korea’s dedication to nurturing its regions as global cultural and tourism hubs. It seeks to leverage local strengths to cultivate a diverse and sustainable economy.
